ok, recently i have had to clear out our warehouse and have a lot of items that are new in box but might be a few years old. A recent sale there was kit sent out, was new and unopened. buyer claimed it was missing parts - i have loads of spare parts at our warehouse i was offering to send out free of charge, the buyer didnt respond... i sent multiple messages without a response. ebay has sided with the buyer and when i get it back with the parts missing i have to refund in full. not sure how sellers avoid this one? ideas please!

Let's do the sums.1. Buyer pays postage
2. We go to the PO and pay that amount over the counter (with the buyer's money)
.......so far it has cost us nothing, money paid for postage and money used at the PO to post
3. Buyer wins the case and we then refund that postage amount.
......we are now out of pocket that amount because we can't get a refund from AP for the amount spent
But dusty, you didn't pay for the postage in the first place, so how can you expect a refund on something you didn't have to pay for, the buyer had already paid you for it ?

Whichever it is Stawks, she is only out of pocket for the return postage not the original postage (apart from GST on it).
Edit. Digi, I'm getting totally confused now - must be time for a coffee...................

I'll do the sums for you
Buyer pays $8.95 postage
Seller heads off to the PO and posts, spending the buyer's $8.95.
So far it has cost the seller nothing
Buyer opens a return case, seller has to pay $8.95 return postage, there's no confusion over that and the seller is billed for that separately.
But when the buyer ultimately wins the case, the seller refunds the item and original postage.
So the postage balance is now in deficit since we can't recoup the buyer's money from the postal service.
So it does cost the seller 2 x postage

dusty, for goodness sake give it a rest will you. I've already apologised for getting my sums wrong and I've explained how that happened.
There is absolutely no need to keep harping on about it......................
...............and cherry-picking the posts..............

What are you talking about. It hadn't been clarified and it needed to be for the benefit of other sellers reading this. I wanted the actual cost to be in print because I don't think you are the only one confused by it.
No agenda, just clarifying the facts. Wow
