speech balloons - can they be disabled?

I don't know if the speech balloons (when mousing-over a topic) are new, or if I have only just noticed

but was hoping there was a way to disable them. Does anybody know? Thanks in advance!

Oh, well thank god for that. Don't take that the wrong way chezzy, but I thought last night that there must have been something wrong with my PC as it was taking 2 or 3 attempts before I could open a topic. I've since noticed that as soon as the bubble for that topic appears, it can be opened, but not before.

Me too - and I'm finding it really annoying.  Talk about slowing the process down.

I know some people like them, but we should have the option of turning them off, then everyone is happy, not just the few that were glad to see them back. I hate alt tags of any kind, they annoy the daylights out of me.
