strange seller fees - i don't understand.

yesterday, i listed an item in two categories, and was told that the fees for listing that item would be $5.50. Today i went to list another item, in one category and was surprised to see that my account balance is now $12.46 and that the second item would bring the total up to $18.16. I am very confused. Is the final value fee calculated into the total before the item has sold or is there something weird going on?   My last ebay account confused me as well, and i thought it seemed excessively high as I don't sell very much but I thought it must have been final value fees.

Am I just behind the times and slightly stupid /  blind.. or is there a reason why it seems like an excessive amount to me?

Bear in mind, I only have two items listed (one in two categories) and my fees account balance is already $18.16 - a considerable amount when there is no listing fee, and I am pretty sure the photos were supposed to be free also.

If anyone could direct me to an ebay link where I could try and understand what is going on, or if anyone knows what I am doing wrong here PLEASE let me know!

I want to list more items but I am afraid it might not be worth the effort if my fees are going to be as high as they were on my last invoice.

are you sure you have not clicked on any extras?  Second category is extra, bold extitle subtitle extra and so on.  If you go into your account it will list the charges individually so you can see the breakdown,  FVF is only charge once the item sells.

That still is too much though, are you sure there are not some FVF for something you sold in the past month?

Unless listing in the category:  Vehicle Parts & Accessories > Car, Truck Parts > Tools > Body Shop Supplies costs more?

Sub titles are usually a waste of money, I only use them if there is essential information that will not fit in the title as they are not searchable. I rarely add a BIN to an auction either, usually if somebody is interested they put a bid in early to get rid of the BIN.

Even with subtitle and BIN it still seems a bit high so you should check under your account tab to see a breakdown of all the fees you are being charged.

Most likely the FVF's from the items you sold at the beginning of December are still showing in the amount owing.
