In your opinion what are the key elements to success on ebay as a seller and how do you go about achieving them?
i want to become a great seller on ebay who is busy all the time with sales.
But i have a lot to learn im sure.
as far as sales go, i am new . last week i had nearly 20 items in a day sold.................. today - none !
yesterday i listed a new item. sold 5 pieces that same afternoon - today , the same ad is dead !
how do we attract buyers to our store consistantly .
What turns buyers away
what do most buyers look for in a purchase.
any help and ideas and experience is welcomed.
Thanks so much

OP, firstly - wishing you all the very best in your future selling !
And number one to make you a great seller is service!
Great service is what customers will remember much longer - long after they have forgotten what they bought.
But there is one small element, especially with selling on Ebay, worth considering:
There are heaps of very rude customers also, those that can't be happy with anything you try to do for them.
If you become a doormat to them - you are history!
We have been here for some years, and since the day one - when confronted with someone less than polite at all times - even when making a complaint - we usually tell them that any further communication is terminated and they are not welcome - we don't want to see them again.
Better than long and protracted toing & froing with messaging.
You develop a sense very soon who is going to be a wasted effort and who deserves all the attention and courtesy... and then some! And this part has nothing to do with what they bought or how much they have spent.
Also, what you sell is imprtant , obviously.
We know a huge seller (not allowed to put their id name here), who have more negs than you can count, but are busier than all of us put together, because people will never stop buying from them - they sell just about the most desirable high end designer stuff. Their negs are always to do with telling people to bugger of after not reading their conditions - another words, they stand 100% by their conditions, not Ebay's.
So having negs is not really much to do with one's ability to sell thousands of $$$$ worth daily, it's nature of your stock that counts.
You will gain many regular customers - so even when the times are slow you'll have some income coming in - and for those people pull out all the stops with service! And great & detailed information and warm communication.
See, nothing to it !
All the best.

As a seller, very glad to read such a clear list of things you look for as a buyer. I don't think you are 'fussy' at all !
I 'm pretty sure, as a seller, I tick most (if not all) of the boxes. So that's reassuring !
Thanks for your contribution !

hi
this is just my opinion as a buyer
when i look at listings i want a clear title
accurate postage costs shown
a really good description including any measurments
i want sellers to respond to any questions in a timely manner and polietly
i want sellers to post in the time frame they state after cleared payment
good pictures at least 2+more if they can
really good prices and to remember to tick item as postage
and add tracking number if used
and if they are sending registered please state that in the listing so i know to stay home to sign for it
its a pet pieve of mine when it says standard but ends up being registered and im not told that by the seller
and space out descritions not all in one line i back out of these ones
wow im pretty fussy LOL tara
-------------------------------------------------------
I would go along with most of that.
I don't mind anything coming registered though as I am usually home.
I like clear ads, well set out, with some detail of the product.
Good photos and more than one-as Tara says.
But most of all, honesty. Goods as described. Exactly.
That is number 1,2 & 3 priority for me, personally.
It doesn't have to be cheap. I'll pay a fair price. But I expect the goods as described and one of these days I will go ballistic if they aren't. I've held myself in check fairly well till now. LOL
Another biggie for me is communication.
If I ask a question, I would like a response within 24 hours.
Once you post my item I would like it if you ticked the item as posted, so I know it is on its way. In the past, that was one way I judged how many stars to give in the communication section of feedback.
Post it off within a reasonable framework. If I see you posted it off within 2 days but it took a week extra to arrive, I will still give 5 stars for postage.
But if you don't post it for 5 days or more, I'll mark you down a star or two, even if Aust post only takes a day.

You've discovered one of the Ebay quirks.
As soon as you list something, your listings(all)seem to have good exposure for a short while, because sales often come in shortly thereafter.

As a newbie to this i see that if you keep asking the question "what makes a great seller" you will be heading in the right direction, my feelings are the same as yours, i want to be as good as a seller and i always ask myself the question, "what would i want as a buyer" great service and prices
