whats the deal with the "fast and free" postage thing ebay has?

they've confused a postal service with someone out for kicks on a Friday Night.

Postage is not free, and lately, it aint been very fast (or accurate) either.

All "Fast'n"Free" means is that the seller has factored in the postage cost to the item cost, thus enabling eBay to charge commission on said postage cost, as opposed to a sale price with a stated postage cost where commission is only paid on the item's actual cost.

As a seller, I choose to include postage in the item's cost (and pay the extra fees), because it also means I get an automatic 5 stars for postage cost, rather than be marked down by someone who thinks Aust Post charge too much!

Either way, the true price is item + postage.

Cheers,

Marina.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but when I was bulk updating listings yesterday, in order to add the "fast and free" logo and service you need to have free post plus also offer overnight delivery (I think this is a new requirement). Can mail be delivered to all locations in Aus overnight?

I never liked it anyway and don't care for it because as has been said it seems like a money grab and buyers think they will get stuff delivered in unrealistic timeframes. I guess it is overnight now. It was on some of my listings now it is gone.

I thought ebay removed it from my listings because I called them to complain about it (with good reason). Do ebay even email sellers about changes anymore? I have not received an email about changes since the start of the year yet heaps of changes have happened. Thanks so much ebay for your customer service.

I also thought gallery pictures couldn't have any writing in them yet almost everything I look for has?

Can we now have links to online stores in a listing?

Can we have "not responsable for post" in listings?

Do ebay really pull listings on their own time or only when someone reports it? Nearly every listing I look at has a policy violation...

Thanks ebay for making a level playing field. Does the ACCC still exist?

The Fast n Free logo appears on TRS listings with Free Post, same day or 1 day handling and where the estimated delivery from postcode to postcode is 4 business days or less. Only buyers who live in the 4 day delivery area will see the Fast n Free logo if your listings meet the other requirements.

Fast n'Free means that postage is listed as free, and that (eBay feels they can reasonably determine) it will arrive within 4 business days after purchase. It does not have to have a 1 day handling time, and not everyone who looks at the same listing will see the Fast N Free logo. I have some free-post listings, my handling time is 2 days, and when I look at them they show as Fast n Free (because the eBay system calculates delivery time according to location, and I'm local to myself... Smiley Very Happy ), but someone in another state would not see the logo on those listings.

I was getting the "fast n free" mixed up with the "get it fast"

"Get It Fast on your listing. You must offer domestic overnight postage and a maximum handling time of one business day"

The fast n free is still gone from my listings though that offer free post and 2 days delivery (1 day handling)

Thanks d*g. I hadn't checked our own listings to see if they had the logo. We have a 2 day handling time and I thought that would have meant it didn't show.

I think eBay (often wrongly) calculate that all local parcels arrive the next day - I know my large letters usually do, but parcels take 2 on average, so even with a 2 day handling time I think it's cutting it a bit fine to promise local delivery within 4 days of purchase. I know there used to be an option to opt out of Fast n Free, but I looked for it recently and couldn't find it.

Get It Fast you do have to opt into, though, and means you offer an express service in addition to your other services - you do have to have a 0-1 day handling time (which means you have to post it within 24 hours, so that might be where the 'domestic overnight postage' comes from), but it doesn't mean overnight delivery according to the current info about it on eBay: http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/sell/get-it-fast.html

It basically is intended to indicate to the buyer that they can "get it faster" than normal by choosing an express service.
