Also Australia Post insurance doesn't cover glass and in their own words "or anything deemed not suitable for post". Obviously this statement will get them off the hook for just about anything that could be possibly broken!

I was told by a head person at Australia Post, that the only way they will honour a breakage is if it was wrapped by an Australia Post worker. So I guess this means you take everything to AP and tell them to wrap them for you. Of course they will charge you for the bubblewrap etc. You would hope they also sign something to say they wrapped it for you.
Australia Post are one of a few companies that think the customer is always wrong. They don't care because they have the monopoly in the postal area.
