why do sellers not have funds released for 21 days?

I have been back and forth with ebay about this issue.

Talking with Jyotika Singh who gave me no answers.

I sold, posted and recieved positive feedback from my buyer and this was over a week ago, and yet still my funds are on hold.. they tell me they wont release for 21 days. It just makes me not want to use ebay ever again.

Why are sellers punished? What about the dodgy buyers out there?

So frustrated and annoyed at Ebay!

The supposed justification for this is that new sellers need to prove themselves trustworthy before they can be trusted to manage their own funds.

They require you to sell  25 items over at least a 90 day period without issues and then they will consider lifting the hold.  If you have an established account with a good track record over a long period you can ask Paypal to consider lifting the hold, but there are no guarantees.  You can also use eBay postage labels, and/or upload tracking numbers for all sales to both eBay and Paypal, and you can contact them after each sale, once the buyer has left feedback and ask them to release the funds from that sale.

Or you can just threaten to lodge a complaint against Paypal with the Financial Ombudsman, that's been known to work.

Cheers,

Penny

Don't just threaten to lodge an FOS complaint, do it.

What they are doing is breaking the law in Australia and PayPal knows it so any complaint filed will usually result in the funds being released within 24 hours.
