why is buyer aloud to leave negative when he made the mistake

Why is a buyer aloud to leave negative feedback when they are the one who stuffed up . Buyer bid and won an item that clearly stated local pickup only and I am in NSW and he is in Darwin , then when I sent him a message saying I hope you have someone to pick this up , he sent a message back and said he will be in NSW on a certain day and he would ring . Of course this was **bleep** . Then I contacted him and said , if no contact is made buy a certain day I am offering it as a second chance offer , Then without contacting me the mongrel left negative feedback . Saying wrong information ! How ? And what can I do , its sales like this that makes me not want to use ebay anymore .

Open a non paying bidder dispute. Close it when you can (four days after opening). Contact eBay and explain they were a NPB and no transaction occurred.

READ THE SITE MAP.

Sorry, I didn't answer your question - Because you don't understand eBay's rules.

Re: why is buyer aloud to leave negative when he made the mistake

has he paid you yet?

There is no timeframe in which the item must be collected in your listing, so was the date that you gave the buyer to collect by within when they said they would collect it? I'm guess ing that's where the "wrong information" fits into it.

(Note I am not commenting oin how reasonable the buyers timeframe was etc as compared to yours, nor if he asked first when pick up was ok iykwim))

Can always give eBay a ring about the neg, but I think they will say similar and emphasize that the feedback is the buyers perception of the transaction (whether it is true or reasonable) andf as it was not very specific and eBay have no idea of what exactly the wrong information is, (especially as your listing doesn't give a timeframe), I'd say you'll be stuck with a nice little Christmas red dot.

You can't sell this to someone else until the original contract is cancelled.

I agree with you on this one, the buyer is clearly the one at fault and there rule to allow them to leave you neg just highlights more problems with the system. Do what Dave suggested open a dispute and then contact eBay . I feel sorry for you, if you listed pick up only the **bleep** about time frames is just that,

@soaper That is because without buyers you have nothing no sellers then no ebay, you can rant all you like but it's the buyers who are the heart and soul of any business ebay is no exception, your fees costs and profits all come from the things you sell to BUYERS.. All the sellers and all the businesses in the world are nothing without buyers. So why can they renig on a deal and get away with it is simple , just because they never bought today does not mean they won't tomorrow. And most do that is why they get away with it . A sale is a sale no matter who that is and ebay have realised it.
If they kept banning peeps for non payments there would be very few left on the site as most would now be banned . Pretty simple really. No buyers no sales no you no ebay. You get it now..

It works both ways,if there were no sellers then there are no buyers and no Ebay

Re: why is buyer aloud to leave negative when he made the mistake

I am a buyer but I would have assumed if ebay allows sellers to open a dispute for non payment after 4 days, then for a pick up item it would be fair enough for a seller to expect payment within the same time period.

So.. if the buyer from Darwin was not going to be down for a couple of weeks, it would have been reasonable to ask him to pay via paypal or bank deposit prior (in fact within the 4 day time frame).

I would do as the others say-put in an unpaid items dispute. If the buyer doesn't pay, then my understanding is you can ask ebay to remove the negative feedback as the case would be resolved in your favour.

I've never had to go through the process, thank goodness, but that is what i have read happens.

All this talk of time frames having to be mentioned in listings seems to me to be a bit of a red herring. If someone hasn't paid within a week and thinks they can just ring you at leisure when it suits them (maybe a month down the track), without making definite arrangements, then that's not on. As a buyer, I would never expect it. I have sometimes asked a seller if it would be okay if I picked up on the weekend and offered to pay prior via paypal but usually they are happy  to wait eg 5 days, for cash if there are definite pick up times etc arranged.

But weeks and weeks down the track and no payment? What a cheek.
