Paypal is not the only safe payment method allowed by ebay.....you can offer paypal or merchant credit facility and basicaly any other payment method that you like such a bank deposit, cheque, or money order or even cash on pickup for pickup items.
The only thing that has changed is that ebay is no longer going to support Paymate.
As far as sellers paying their fees....they can use paypal or credit card as far as I know.
What law exactly is ebay breaking? And ebay did not lose any court case...they just backed down on insisting on paypal being the only method of payment allowed on ebay.

yes , but what i am saying is some sellers in AU are only stipulating buyers to use paypal only no other method of payment ?

Well that is up to the seller. If they want to offer paypal only it is not ebay's place to make them do anything else.
They are following ebay's policy to offer buyers a safe payment method and are not required to do anything else.
Why does it upset you what payment methods are offered by other sellers?

I,m one of the sellers that chooses to use Paypal only as my selected payment method. The reason for this is that when a buyer pays with paypal, an icon automatically appears in my sold items list, showing the payment has been made and the item is now ready to be sent. Its an efficiency thing. I also simply total my paypal payments in and out each month for tax purposes, greatly simplifying book keeping
I do accept bank deposit on request, but find checking the account regularly to see if payment has cleared and distinguishing one payment from another when many items have an identical price and posting cost a hassle. Also buyers can check the payment sent icon without actually paying ( yeah I was gonna get to the bank this arvo but forgot etc. ) . This causes further confusion and time wasted cross checking payments and complicates book keeping for the ATO.
I dont care about the 5% paypal fee, I just want to keep my business as simple as possible. This allows me to "churn" stock at the fastest, most efficient rate, gaining the maximum turn over per hour worked. With all of the preasures on ebay sellers, their business model needs to be steamlined as much as possible to earn a decent living.
Many ebay sellers stuggle to earn more than a few dollars per hour. One reason for this may be that it is very easy to get side tracked on ebay," just doing stuff" with ebay offering so many options to do things. The KISS principle ( Keep It Simple Stupid ), has been essential for me to succesfully make a living here.

That is not illegal, individual sellers are permitted to select what payment method they use. That is in fact why the ACCC got involved with the Paypal only thing eBay wanted to introduce, they were unhappy with Paypal removing the right of choice form individual sellers. If a seller chooses to accept Paypal only that is acceptable. There are still B&M businesses out there that only accept cash, and there are plenty of online shopping sites thait only accept credit card payments and not Paypal, that is their choice. Businesses are free to decide what payment methods they want to accept.
