Ebay debiting my account multiple times for the same transaction

In the last month, I have paid for a couple of purchases, which have been correctly debited from my bank account - so all good.  Subsequently, eBay have debited my account again twice, for each of the exact same previously paid purchases. This has resulted in me having declined EFT payments (I cannot be expected to have sufficient funds in my bank account to cover these unauthorised extra debit attempts), hence I get charged penalty fees for these unauthorised extra debit attempts. My bank has investigated this issue and have determined it is wholly an eBay failure/problem. Is anyone else having similar issues at all with any purchases, and have you reported this issue to eBay?

I fully understand about credit card pre-authorisation, however these are generally zero dollar amounts and would not be declined by my bank. In the case of my issue, eBay have attempted to debit my account multiple times for greater than zero dollars, hence the EFT transaction was declined (twice) and for which I will now be debited with a dishonour fee by my bank. As an aside, eBay (through an online chat conversation) have acknowledged this an an issue, so I suppose I will have to see if they resolve this problem.

I have heard of people having the issue of being debited twice, but one is an authorization and the money is then paid back into the buyer's account. I don't know if your issue is different or the same?
