why do I sometimes get a message from EBay to say that there has been a new log-in device, same pc

Several times now I have received an email from EBay to say that there has been a new device logged onto my account. It gives an approximate near enough local area. But I know it was me and I am using the same Laptop. I was wondering if updates to Firefox or to Windows 10 is causing this. Fortunately, when it has occured, I am the user logging on.

Not a big deal up to now, one day it might be someone else and it is good to know that we are being watched over. Just want to know why if I can

because the way ebay have there securty rigged is ridiculous. I get the same message EVERY time I log in - and I've been using the same computer and browser in the same office for the last 10 years.

The problem is you restart your modem, or turn off your system at night, when you restart. your ISP shifts your account to a different geographic location - this is normal security operating proceedure for ISPs in many countries (like Australia). Ebay sees this as a log in from a different location and flags it as unusual log in activity.

It's a riduculous way to 'ensure security;' because those so-called security warnings are becoming far more annoying than any spam I receive....facebook and instagram security worked the same way for a while - thank god they fixed the problem at their end - lets hope that the code monkeys at Ebay wake up and do the same.
