Stop opening new window for each item i look at

This has been going on for a while now, every time i look at a different item ebay has to open a new tab, if i look at 20 items i have 20 tabs open, how do i stop this from happening, many people have this problem but as yet there is no answer that i can find to stop it

There are actually many answers (rather than no answer), but they are not the same for everyone, so you have to look at them one by one and see what applies to you. Obviously if you have "open in a new tab" in your settings, the windows will open in a new tab, but if you don't, you will have to look at possible glitches and their causes one by one.
