looking at hair facinators and my browser was looked by web page

i was looking at hair facinators  and a web page message came up saying my browser was locked and criminal procedings  would happen if i did not pay a fine  and my screen was looked and i  could not do anything i tried and tried could not do a thing on that page  every time i clicked the cross in corner of message it would come back after twenty minuets  i was reaaly freaking out i had done nothing wrong just trying to buy an item did not know what to do would not even let me click contact ebay  so i restarted my computer  and it let me go to ebay i have not clicked on to browse or buy as i dont know if it will look again just went straight to contact ebay  could you please explain why this happened

You are not contacting ebay here.  This is a help forum run by member like you.

Ebay does not "look" at your computer and send emails like that.  It is pretty sure to be a phishing email and nothing to do with ebay at all.

I hope you did not click on anything in the email but just in case I would run a deep virus scan and change any important passwords.
