Hello buyers! I am wondering what you think about the new incoming tax reform that aims to charge GST on purchases under $1000 dollars made to international stores. For the ones who are not aware, Australian government does not charge GST on goods that are sold overseas and are priced at less than $1000. This is because collecting the GST would be more expensive than the earnings that such GST would generate. However, Australian Federal Treasuerer Joe Hockey has stated that after the G20 reunion, countries agreed on seeking inexpensive ways to charge GST on small purchases. As a result, the government plans to implement this tax reform on 1 June 2017. However, there is not a clear scheme on how the GST will be charged, therefore such date is not 100% sure and can be forwarded. I have a few questions that could help me clarify what buyers think about this reform. This information is for a university assignment and it would be of great help if I could get your answers! 1. Do you usually buy from overseas ebay stores or Australian ebay stores? 2. If you had to pay 10% more on the purchases you make on ebay, would you still buy? 3. What are your main reasons to buy on ebay? 4. How often do you buy on ebay and how often do you buy from traditional retail stores? 5. What do you think about this incoming tax reform? Does it affect you? I would really appreciate if I can get some answers to all the questions above, or at least a few of them! Thank you very much! Nicolas Guerrero
