Are sales slow?

I don't know whether it's just me but I have sold absolutely zilch for over 2 weeks now.  Have never gone quite that long before.  Is anyone else finding their sales slow?

Re: Are sales slow?

As an occasional seller and specific book buyer, though constant looker for my particular interest, I have found the number of items up for auction has significantly reduced, often by half to what used to be offered for my preferred authors. Still lots of buy it nows but not the type of book I need to complete collections. And those that are offered now have one bid only or more often don't sell.

I admit I don't know the reason...unless bank balances are very tight; collectors have what they want or sellers are listing elsewhere.

Re: Are sales slow?

Whilst my sales aren't flash, they're no less flash than they have been for the last 6 months.

There are heaps of books listed here, budawangs. The issues come about when trying to find Aussie sellers of same who aren't dropshippers, as most of the multi million sellers appear to be.

I don't list auctions, simply because it costs me a lot less to list BIN and my ASP would not be much less anyway.

Last time I checked, out of many million books listed on this site, less than one percent were auction. Makes it hard to find a book for 'Guess the End Price'.

I am a seller and used to be a buyer of specific books. I have many I need to complete my collections, but I have found that they will eventually turn up in my local Op shops or Lifeline. Failing that, I have a very reliable seller in the US who will find anything I want at a good price. A bit against my principles, but my experience is that the Aussie sellers who can offer the same are dropshippers anyway. I prefer to deal with a source.

Re: Are sales slow?

My interests are particular authors' first edition hardbacks from the 30's thru to the 60's. That's why I find/found auctions a good source for me. I admit I have heard of dropshipping but until looking it up didnt know what it really meant. I may be wrong but doubt books of this type are dropshipped. As a collector I guess I lament that eBay has gone from a very good source of collectable books to, as you say, an endless list of millions of books that are offered from everywhere.

Re: Are sales slow?

Being swamped by millions of books from overseas dropshippers has negatively affected sales for many Aussie booksellers.  ๐Ÿ˜ž

It's discouraging to see international sellers getting priority in search results over Aussie sellers.  ๐Ÿ˜ž
