Aust Post Increase in Prices

Thanks to jlb225oz for sending me this link

http://auspost.com.au/about-us/price-changes.html

I have also seen a printout that announces new prepaid satchels as of Monday March 5th. These replace the current red/white prepaid bags and are dearer BUT they do include tracking AND there is a 3kg-5kg bag. I really would like a 500gm -1kg, but no one in Aust Post listens to me.

Aust Post Increase in Prices

250g - 500g used to be $6.35 if just plain wrapped....why is it now $6.60 even if not in a satchel. and why has the 500g satchel jumped by .60c and the 3kg by .20c?

also....can anybody tell me if the new satchels with the tracking numbers are "delivered proof" by ebay?

thanks

Because AP have just put up the prices.

The new satchels are not adequate for Paypal, they have no verifiable address. ie you hand write the address, there's nothing in the AP system that ties the address to the tracking number.

They are, however, registerable, unlike the C&S satchels.

Just put some rocks in the parcels to make the weight close to 500g, if they going to charge you for it, may as well make them earn it.

Increase the weight for them to carry on there posty bikes and other transport methods, the extra weight if every seller did this would make them think maybe it was a bad idea 😄

I complained to Ebay via email about the calculated postage still coming up with $10.30 against the EbayAusPost satchel...never was that so don't know what that is all about! The buyer has to do their own calculation for over 500g items as I am unable to enter more than $8.00 postage due to Ebay's policies as I sell books...so they did this, got the Ebay calculated total and paid straight away. So now I am out a further 25 cents through no fault of  my own!  Ebays C.S. reply suggested I send a manual additional invoice to the buyer - I'm sure that would go down really well!  The C.S. rep assured me he would escalate this problem to the Site Management team - hmmmm I vaguely remember reading something like this more than week ago on this thread or one like it!

Use calculated postage when you do your listing, and select the eBay 3kg satchel. Your buyers will ALL see the new (albeit incorerect) price. Also add something in Postage and Handling to cover the shortfall. You should have at least the satchel cost (up to 35c) in P&H anyway.

How about from the buyer point of view? Around 50% of the time the "parcel" which is usually tiny does not even get delivered. One just gets a card telling you to come and pick it up from the post office. when I enquire why, I'm told that the deliveries are contracted out, and it seems that when there is more than they are contracted to deliver they simply return it to the post office. Additionally I've been caught out 3-4 times by going to my local post office, queueing for 15 minutes only to be told the item is at another post office. Apparently the drivers can return it to whichever post office suits them. If AP is going to charge this much they should fulfill the implied contract and actually deliver the darned things. Puts me right off buying on line.

Hi All,

Why is it when Aus post annouced their increases over a month ago. Ebay still have not updated the prices on the system?!

I also got the comment from CS to send on an additional invoice to the customers. Come on Ebay get a move on! Do you actaully believe customers will understand this?

Yeah I've also noticed this new "trend" lately, as a matter of fact, for the first time in years, some of my small parcels from overseas even got lost.

I shook my head at the (late) announcement they put on the C&S notice when you first log-in. Apologising to customers who were not aware of price increases, even though they posted announcements in two other webpages.

Wouldn't it have been COMMON SENSE to put the announcement on that same C&S announcement page beforehand instead of using it to apologise?

Perhaps they wanted to keep people in the dark as long as possible and then say something once the horse had bolted so to speak, dont want to lose sales and all that.

Morons.

P.S one seller selling ebay satchels is getting floods of negs about the price increases, funny that.
