Hi, I want to get rid of the last of the LPs I have been carting around. I got them all out yesterday and gave them a light clean. They look pretty good, but I can't play them to know. I see a couple of deeper scratches on different sides of records and lighter ones and scuff marks. Is it worthwhile putting a record up for sale if I can see scratches? I don't want an unhappy buyer, but I am sure someone will be happy to have these records.
Also, some I still have from my early teens are in poor condition, Rod Steward, Maggie May for example, lots of surface scratches but fantastic album. Is it worth while putting something like this in a bulk lot or should I just throw it out (ouch). Thanks for your opinions.

anything in the opp shop in large numbers isn't worth listing, Rod Stewart, Neil Diamond and Billy Joel are a few that are hopeless sellers.
If you had some Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, Kiss or Pink Floyd you would certainly list those.
We have trouble selling the top 3 artists for $1ea. in the book shop so they usually end up in the wheelie bin after sitting around for years.

Hi, I have a few australian records, saints, nightmovin, angels, richard clapton, the country joe, duane allman ... was gonna list these in a lot. My question is more about condition, some look like they have had a good play and others look pretty good, but then say angels has a 2mm scratch. Should I list condition to that extent or just say they vary been very good and very used?

Hi Cridco
I had a huge pile of LPs that I auctioned a while back in questionable condition. I started the auction low,
$20 for memory and got around $80 for memory, or it may have been $60. Can't remember but it was worthwhile
in the end. They went to a guy who bought them to turn them into an out door feature wall. Also have an
artist contact that makes them into handbags. I had a lot of interest in them on gumtree originally and then
realised that they probably were under priced and came off ok with an auction. My photo just showed the
pile of records, no names or descriptions. Hope this helps.

You should head for the record fair circuit that's what I did prior selling to ebay. Just look for one in your local area and find out what it costs to be a stall holder. At least you'll attract some prospective buyers.
