Hope the link works, could only find a cached version.

Larry McMurtry's used book store sold off three quarters of its stock at an auction earlier this month: Further proof that print is dying? Or a hopeful passing of the torch.

I am always interested to read other booksellers stories, how they got into bookselling and why they do it.

Hope you enjoy the article.

From reading the Time article, it seems that Larry didn't want the bookstore and his huge collection to be a liability to his son and grandson, which seems like a very sensible thing to do. Shame about 3 of the 4 bookstore buildings closing down though.

Larry's memoir 'Books' is a great read, and one of the main reasons I went to the US last year, to visit his bookstore ...
