Hi All,
I have 'inherited' a stack of vinyl albums to sell and I was wondering if anyone had tips on the best way to post them.
My thoughts would be something like pizza boxes?
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

You will need to sell them first-just saying,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Richo.

Pizza boxes are good and I've heard that it's good to get strong corrugated cardboard and pack above & below the record but turn them so the corrugations are at an angle to each other for strength. Another thing is to pack flat sheets of styrofoam above & below the record.

What Mon says.I also find strong cardboard regardless if corregated either side does the trick too.
Pack forst in platic then newspaper then the crdboard making sure the edges of the album are covered.

I would suggest you extend the cardboard and other packing materials beyond the edges of the records / record covers. I once saw a buyer collect a parcel from the post office in which one of the parcel corners had been torn open and bashed in a bit. It didn't look like there was hardly any extra space. Needless to say, the buyer was very annoyed when he saw the parcel and was concerned the stack of records had been damaged.

The way I do it with books and with records it should work the same.
Put the record in plastic first.
Then get the cardboard that you are going to put below, get a wide piece of sticky tape, double it and place it in the
centre of the covered record and then add the cardboard,(make certain you centre it).
Then place another piece of double up tape on each of the four corners of the covered record.
Place the top cardboard on one edge and lower it over the rest.
Then tape the edges together,(that will double the cardboard, making it stiffer).
All this will prevent the record from moving and any impact will be born by the carboard first,

Hi Mark, I've just had a look at your listings and your postage is rather expensive.
I've been selling records for 14 years and if it's just a single record, you can post for under 500grams for $6.95 within Australia.
I cover mine in a plastic bag, tape it to the centre of some heavier cardboard, add a top cardboard and tape around all the edges. Every single record I've posted this way has arrived safely, even posted internationally.
Good luck!

Hi,
Thanks again for all the suggestions.
In regard to postage, I was going to wrap them in plastic, then corrugated cardboard then in a pizza box which went over 500gms, so then became a parcel. Do you think that much wrapping is unnecessary?
Thanks Mark
