Okay.... My pet peeve is seeing books with the price sticker on the front cover.
I resell a lot of preloved books...so many of them have the price on the front....I think it devalues the book.
I certainly, if I have a choice, pick the one without the price on the front.
The problem with the price on the front is, if its an old copy, its hard to get it off without actually ripping the cover. Also black texta or other stickers are unattractive.
What do you think?

Do you mean the original price sticker or an op shop/secondhand bookshop sticker?
Anyway, I guess it doesn't really matter which. Water-based eucalyptus oil will get rid of most stickers and their residue. Black texta marks too. And if that doesn't work, someone (Yarmak, I think) gave us a handy tip involving a warm iron held close to the sticker, which melts the glue enough to remove it. It's in an earlier thread on this board.
I've bought A LOT of books in my time, and I could count on one hand the number I've received from sellers that still have a price sticker or hand-written price left on them. Sellers generally don't want buyers to know how much (or how little) they have paid for the stuff they're selling.

Try Eucalyptus oil, good at removing stickers and texta marks.

One of my local OP shops insists on pricing books with a black texta. Front, back, boards or DJ's doesn't matter, it's priced somewhere. Its OK if the DJ is plasticised but very annoying for the older paper DJs from the 50/60's.
I've asked them not to do it...maybe use pencil inside but they say buyers come in with erasers and change the price...and if they use stickers, buyers remove the sticker for a cheaper one. I think its just an excuse but I suppose there are no remedies for texta on old paper DJ's??

I sometimes cut the corner off the cover neatly if the name or price is too difficult to get off with tea tree oil.
People here only want to read it.
If it has George R Martin, Nora Roberts or EL James on it, they don't care what condition the cover is in, as long as the binding is tight and all the pages intact.
