Mine would be to start off the negotiation with "I don't need it"
Showing any sort of demand in something usually kerbs any future negotiations.
ie: I've been after one of these for years, doh! good way to blow the haggling that may have occured had you rather just asked hom much it was and then start back with, "I don't really need it" even start walking away from it so as to make the vendor know you can leave it so that they may reply with a "go on, you can have it for ..." :^O

Took the bait Dave lol.
You stay home and leave the Traralgon gs for me.
New trend here is 7am starters.
Last Sunday Rosedale had a town sale 24 garage sales-market
and a couple of oppos open.
Happy hunting........................................Richo.

How did you go at Rosedale Richo, missed that one.
I did 54 GS's by 9:30am in Warneet + another 30 because it was Garage Sale Trail day.
I love this time of year because there are so many sales to go to.
I went over to Yarragon and bought quite a few of his books after he phoned me to come and make an offer before he closes the doors.
Got a lot of local history books and Idriess off him.
Schoolies have been good for the t/over this week.
Good to see some of them have other pleasures other than sex, drugs and alcohol

Hi Dave--a few trinkets at Rosedale--next year it will be the left overs
from this year -like the ones in Trafalgar.
Does that bloke Peter still have a shop in Mirboo North?.
Hope your medical problems have improved.
Your offsider-think his name is Dennis-must be a big help.
One day i will wind my watch back 30 years and visit your B+M.
Christmas hols coming-with luck a few book reading tourists.
Take care..........................Richo.

one of the opp shops I attend in Melb. allows me out the back just to take the newage stuff off their hands for a nominal fee. Pretty good when it's one of the hot selling areas of the shop, bless those Christian opps

Richo, the book shop will keep going in Mirboo North.
I think they may end up closing it too as they want to take things easier and just do the odd fair and book binding expo's.
Denis is a friend I would be hard to do without, he continues to astound me with the finds he gets from the Gippsland and Melb. opps. We split the proceeds of a Lady Of The Swamp he found for 50c in Korumburra recently.
It helps having somone looking out for you when you're stuck in the shop.
As for my health, the angina hasn't popped up since the stents went in, but this flu just won't kick itself into the proverbial. I was told the long term effects of my meds can lead to a loss of brain function due to lower magnesium levels and regular aspirin consumption can lead to gout as well so it's a worry.

Hi Dave-take care -a bookseller with a B+M -needs all the brain working.
Must admit -you looked like a shot fox--straight from the hospial bed-
waiting for the Yarragon book fair to open--catch up ....Richo.

I've never been to the opies in Rosedale, I thought there was only one of them. ๐
Good to see that you're feeling a bit better David, I agree with Richo re Yarragon. I had the youngster home from school for a week with a croup virus that's doing the rounds in the Valley. 3 out 4 in this family got this cold & I wasn't one of them.

Hi Sqauki--there are 2 -one in the hall on the main street-the other is
2 streets south-the street with the large eagle carving in a park.
Both not worth visiting--unless passing through.
Are you still on -the corner--just asking.........................Richo.
on โ10-12-2013 09:13 AM
I don't relish the thought of a few hours in Rosedale waiting for the train if the oppies aren't any good, so thanks for the tip Richo.
And yes, I am still on the corner.

There is a guy at the Cannington markets in Perth on a sunday morning selling books.
Most are $2 and he has a high turn over, he could be good for getting stock.
