Who is ebaying today?

I thought I'd get this thread up again.:-)

I've had enough excitement here for one day and am off to find my zzz's.

Good thing the weekend is coming up so we can play with all this new stuff.

Re: Who is ebaying today?

Giving in to ebay's push on free postage and spending my spare minutes today adding free p&h to existing listings. Not a happy task as I philosophically object to the trend to offer "free" P&H when there is no such thing... it does not cost nothing, it is not free... but I think it has become an expectation.

Separately, does anyone have any experience with adding ISBNs to their book descriptions - do you think anybody ever searches with ISBN?

I use 'free postage' for stuff that will go as a large letter, only.

I always include ISBNs in my descriptions, but I have no idea if anybody searches by them. Maybe somebody looking for a particular edition, which is unlikely with what I sell. Only takes a couple of seconds, though.

Re: Who is ebaying today?

I gave in yesterday & let my married daughter take me to Costco the HUGE new American style warehouse in Auburn/Lidcomb - interesting experience - you would think that the world was on the brink of nuclear war and that everyone would be locked in a bunker & unable to shop for the next decade. Huge double trollies, full to overflowing & not just one trolley per family. This has got to hurt Coles & Woolies etc. Some stuff was cheaper, but when you have to buy 60 toilet rolls to get the discount! Who has cupboard space for 60 toilet rolls!!! I was restrained & bought cat food, fresh asparagus and other not so restrained items like crumbed cheese sticks, beef jerky etc etc. Must restrict my visits to once a month only.;-)

Re: Who is ebaying today?

We loved shopping at Costco in the US! Haven't been to one here yet ... heck, Adelaide doesn't even have any Aldi supermarkets here yet. If the Costco model here is the same as in the US, if they have something on special and you want it, buy when you see it or you'll miss out.

My son wanted some particular MP4 player that we found at Costco, but wanted to do some price checking. The next time we went in, it was gone. And it was a really good price. He still talks about missing out on that ... 5 years later!

Re: Who is ebaying today?

Judy - my daughter had been in on the Saturday & amongst lots of other stuff, had bought some cans of cherry cola - was a special for that day only - none there on the Sunday. I like our Aldi stores & feel that Costco is just too big & overwhelming. I still had an eye-opening time tho'.

Re: Who is ebaying today?

OH & I think we'll join up and go once a month. We were lucky and got the GPS he wanted really cheap and he's very happy with it. Tangles, you're right about the toilet paper and many other items they sell, you do need to know your prices elsewhere and whether you really need/can store the sizes they offer. I still can't get over the 'bricks' of butter and cheese. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Re: Who is ebaying today?

I actually bought all my shelving from Costco in Melbourne. It's quite good - books can go 3 deep. Ten of them can hold over 5000 books. Here's a link to a delivery company who stock Costco items if you don't want to go in there...

Re: Who is ebaying today?

Remember my awful woeful terrible PO? Well it is an ongoing saga. Yesterday I was starting to get worried as I have items coming from the US - shipped on 15/8 and would usually be here by Friday ... nothing and the items that were shipped after arrived Monday so I rang DHL. Oh they are starting to hand the items over to the PO??? What the.....? So this morning I went in to pick up 3 parcels and they weren't even ready, as they still had to do the paperwork....they got them at 10.18am yesterday morning......????

No Happy DHL!!!!!

Hi Nicola,

My orders that usually come via DHL have been coming by Aus Post for a few months now.

And I've trained my lovely driver to leave them in my very secret hidey spot so I don't have to traipse back and forth all the time.

Very handy - well for me anyway. My PO is a bit more user friendly than yours.

Re: Who is ebaying today?

thought I'd dip my feet back into the ebay selling water and give it a try now the moving is all coming to an end. Listed a few trots, not sure if they're still getting good prices?
It's fun waking up in the shop and being able to walk over the rd to aldi or Safeway if i run out of anything.
The figures are slowly climbing as people read the signs in the ol' shops windows and make their way up the street for a goosy gander at the new digs.
Mind you last week was very weak in both shops, not sure why?
Maybe all the negative press atm over idustries like steel closing and the like?
