I have been trying for about two months now to update my contact number and every time I get an error saying;
'We're having a problem right now. Please try again later'
I have contacted support several times and all they say is that it is a known issue but they will report it again and get it fixed and that I should try again in 24-48 hours. I've been told this 4 times now and it never gets fixed.
How is it that a company worth some 30 billion dollars that opperates online cannot get their website features to work?
Why is it that no one at eBay can give me a straight answer about when this issue will be resolved?
In today's day and age for a company like eBay how is this issue not resolved ASAP?

When you contacted them, did you use the phone number for the overseas call center or did you use the Live Chat?
The call center staff basically read from a screen in front of them and more often than not will either respond
a) There is no issue/nobody else has complained
b)They will report it to tech
Both replies are almost always bs
I would try the have us call you option, and since it has been going on so long, I would ask for a supervisor
They may suggest the usual clear you cookies/cache and what not, so maybe do that if you have'nt already

I've tried both, first I called, the following times were live chat.
Yeah I've done it all, cleared cache, cleared history, removed VPN, used the links from support. Done it all.
I'll try the 'have us call you option' now but if the call comes from the same calibre call centre that you get when you call them I don't think it will do much.
What I need is someone with some actual pull in support or preferably in the tecnical department to see this and do something because this being a ongoing issue for so long is both insane and beyond frustrating.

I'm afraid they won't see it on the forum here, no eBay staff read here and the blurb about 'tech staff checking for issues' on the forum is just not true
Someone on the eBay team does make posts here, about random things but they do not read member's posts and even block their own posts from being commented on (due to 'too many people' complaining or asking questions in the past when their posts could be commented on)

Well that's wonderful because I just got my call back from support who said that because there were next to no reports (he stated 5 to be exact) of the issue it was unlikely to be investigated or fixed but he would report it to the tecnical department... again... typical BS from the same calibre call centre support robot you would expect.
He was hovever, more than happy to acknowledge that it was a serious issue because eBay handles account holders money, financial information and personal details and that in order to keep that information safe eBay encourages the use of up to date personal information, like phone numbers, and the fact that this issue is preventing the update of said information was a problem. You don't say.
But since support can't help and no one from eBay reads issues posted on their own forum I guess the issue will likely go unresolved by eBay's technical department because not enough people are affected.
How infuriating. Well done eBay.

Yep. Same error.
'We're having a problem right now. Please try again later.'

Hi,
Did you ever get this issue resolved?
I have been having the same issue for the last 2 years.
I have tried updating it on the app, website, on multiple different devices and browsers (mac and windows) and cannot update my email and phone number.
Same error message. I don't want to change accounts as I don't want to lose my ratings.
Is there a solution you know of?

Yeah I did and by the time I was talking to the right person it was actually very easy for them to fix... I just had to get to the right person. There was a particular process that I started that got me to the right person but I'm sorry it was so long ago that I don't know what the process is called. All I can say is... Forget the Indian call centres and live chat... They cannot help you... Escallate your issue to the technical department and request a call back from the technical team... It could take a week for them to call you back but they should have an idea of what they need to do to change your details.

Nobody will be calling back at the moment.
And the call centre is in The Philippines, not India.
The ONLY avenue to contact eBay is Live Chat.
