Hi,
I was using ebay.com.au to make an International purchase from the UK i was logged in to my account it said under $70 AUD Free express freight GST may apply so i bought the item, then when i went to pay at the paypal account page it said about $159 AUD.
I got the shock of my life as i had already clicked commit to buy a screen or two before.
I paid for the item anyway,i was buying it for a friend with his money.
The problem is i bought the item for under $70 AUD and was asked to commit which i did then got asked to pay about $159.
I am aware i could have pulled out of the transaction where i saw the $159 written by closing the page except i am sure i was asked to commit one page before.
Pretty sure i clicked Buy Now then commit to buy then pay now then i paid.
thank you

If the seller is using the GSP to send the item then apart from it being an expensive shipping service they also charge a fee to collect 10% GST which is also on top.
Best thing in future is to select the postage section in the listing and enter your postcode for shipping costs.
Often you will see postage to their local country only on the front page of a listing but not to your location until you select get rates.
Alternatively add the item to the cart and you should see a breakdown of the total before committing to buy at checkout.

Did it have a 'Get Rates' box when under postage and shipping, for you to select Australia ?
I'd be very surprised if it ws 'Free' postage from the UK to here

Use the cart.
Use the cart.
A lot of problems would be eliminated if people used the cart instead of clicking on Buy It Now.

Here in my cart
I feel safest of all
I can add all my goods
It's the best way to buy
In cart
Here in my cart
I can only receive
I can look at the costs
It keeps me buying for days
In cart
Here in my cart
Where the buying goes down
Items visit this space
If I click "Add to cart"
In cart
Here in my cart
I know I've started to think
About buying tonight
If the price, it seems right
In cart

Please don't use buy it now
It'll just make you howl
The cart is much better
Here's how, to the letter
Put your stuff in the cart
Then go to checkout for a start
It gives you the chance
To see at a glance
What all charges will be
Before you commit your pennies
Until you pay, you still haven't 'bought'
So if by chance there's a rort
You can just walk away
And spend your cash some other way.
