Re: is there anyway to include a decimal point in searches? eg. can't search for "m2.5 screw&am

ok, thanks.

However, I do seem to get a lot of results which don't contain m2.5.

To be more demanding, I searched "m2.6 screw -tapping" (for m2.6 screws which are not self-tapping). I get 1650 results of which more than half do not contain "m2.6", so search does not appear to be very efficient.

I tried advanced search but it made no difference. The Ebay search is not as rigorous as a google search. You see I like to drill down to specific search results, but the Ebay search often fails to cooperate.

note:

a search for m2.6 returns:-

m2.6, m 2.6, m2 6, and maybe some others. So search critieria is essentially ignored in this instance as m2.6 is not being treated as a single word.

cheers

Have you tried putting quote marks around the "m2.6"? I'm not saying it'll work, and it probably won't, but anything's worth a try. I gave up buying certain things years ago when they took out the wild card search and basically made it impossible to find some things.

thanks mate, I tried quotation marks to emphasise the criteria but EBay search engine ignores that too. Exactly the same number of search results. cheers ... Graham.P

I was going to suggest similarly to bear.

You can enter your search then with a minus in front of other items to eliminate them from the search.

Re: is there anyway to include a decimal point in searches? eg. can't search for "m2.5 screw&am

thanks bear,

I think that's just what I have tried already. See reply #3 above. Your results also have a lot of hits which do not contain m2.6 in the headings.

I realize this looks like a small problem, but only because I have chosen an example with few search results. If you are looking for something more common like an m2.5, and globally, and then want to narrow the search with other specifics, it simply cannot be done. At least I can't see how.

(A simple search for m2.5, globally, yields in excess of 185,000 results. Many will not even meet the literal meaning of the search criteria for "m2.5")
