Hi, I have been trying to bid on limited edition Swiss Army knives in the US. Any listing with global shipping will not let me bid or buy. I asked Ebay customer service yesterday to tell me why. The answer came back initially that it was a flick knife and not allowed. Not true. It was a 100 Anniversary limited edition swiss army knife in a presentation box. Then I was told that it was Ebay policy and the word knife in the listing prevented me from bidding.
I presume the global shipping component of some US listings checks for custom charges and then stops the bids because Ebay Aust. says knives are not allowed. I think this is most unfair because swiss army knives and other pocket knives are allowed into Australia by customs.
I would like Ebay Australia to amend this catch all policy which prevents legitimate purchases from the US.

You are talking to other eBay members here, not eBay 🙂
try asking the seller if they would ship directly to you, if they are in the GSP, they can opt out.

Superficial is a bit too kind, I think.
Mindless reading from a limited cheat sheet is probably more accurate.

From the "better late than never" dept .....
If you really want the item, use one of the US based item consolidation mobs.
They will give you a US based address to use so you only pay the seller for domestic shipping.
They will then on-forward it to you at a much creaper rate than the PB GSP.....
It will be much easier than trying to get ebay to admit their system is flawed.

Australia Post would STOP the import at it's Sydney Customs. Under the Australian Post Dangerous goods policy.
even if it is still in it's retail pack.
Not necessarily.....it is a Swiss Army Knife and they are not on the list of restricted items. Not all knives are restricted and it is not Australia Post that stops them...it is Customs.

But I will guarantee your seller didn't send throught GSP.
Pitney Bowes seem to have their own rules, and knives of any kind aren't in them.
