Hi,
I just got one as well.
DO NOT click on any links in the email, it's a spoof or fishing email.
When eBay contact you for real,
as well as getting the email on your desktop email program,
you will also get a message in your actual eBay inbox as well, under 'My eBay'
Just delete it, don't click on any links on this email you have just received.
Regards,
An honest person

I would expect it to have your full name on it and appear in "my messages" BUT
Ebay are asking everyone to change their passwords and apparently the link does appear in the email (not certain because none of my 3 ebay accounts have received the email yet).
So you will need to change your password, just be safe and don't use a link in an email to do it. (If you log out and then back in the ebay website should then give you a prompt to change your email.)

It is NOT a spoof or phishing email.
As well as the messages plastered all over the boards about this issue ebay have stated that they will be emailing all members with the link to change their password.....because so many members have been complaining that they do not know how to change it.
You do not have to used the link if you are suspicious of it but you should change your password.

Over the years I have found that this is not the case. Take the ATO taxation email from eBay earlier this year for example; noone knew whether it was legitimate or not until an eBay employee came to the boards to say it was really from eBay.
As there was no message sent to the messages inbox.
So, a message that is also in the eBay inbox, is real
But, one that isn't, isn't necessarily a fake. Just to make life easier. Unless I am expecting an email that minute (as in a confirmation or verification response to something I have just done), I treat all email links with suspicion and go directly to the actual site.
