Is it a smart Ebay Policy of letting 100 billion chinese traders sell items on Ebay Australia ??

Aussies can list other countries as well BUT it is the buyer's choice who/where they purchase from.
What should not be permitted is saying the item location is Australia when it is not.

It is against policy to falsely represent your location. But then it is up to eBay to actually act upon complaints.
eBay has some excellent policies in place, but are often slow to follow through or never do.
that annoys me
Is it smart? It makes eBay a lot of money. I guess their position is slowly moving towards being a platform for new goods, predominantly cheap imports, and some major Australian brands. Not good for the private seller or a buyer who wants something different.

Hi Amber
Yep that is true but it seems that they do not act on it even though it is not permitted but still done sooooo much.

Yes...it really looks like they are more into keeping the high turnover businesses going, than responding to legitimate concerns.
well, we can do our best to avoid foreign sellers if we choose, but eBay does not make it easy letting so many get away with "Sydney warehouses" when the items are located in China.

IMO ebay love it. The $$$ that must be generated, would be phenomenal. We all have a choice from what sellers we buy from. I really don't like the "deception" that a lot of the sellers say. Item is in Sydney Warehouse, but !!!! At this stage, it is out of control and personally I don't think it can be stopped.

Totally agree cq. The Playing Fields is as Rocky as the Himalayas'. Ebay as a Co, really don't want the Hobby sellers anymore. We are incedental in their scheme.

I'm all for free trade, but only when it's on a level playing field, and where the Chinese sellers are concerned, it's clearly not. I have no idea what sort of fee structure they work under (if indeed any), but it is clearly nowhere near as punishing as ours, otherwise there's no way they could "freepost" items to Australia for $1 and not be making a substantial loss.
Perhaps they are all working for the Chinese Public Service.
