We’re reminding sellers and buyers that button batteries and the toys and devices that use them can present significant risks for young children. In Australia, 20 children a week present to an emergency department with a button battery related injury. If swallowed, a button battery can become stuck in a childʼs throat and result in significant injuries and even death.

As a seller a mandatory safety standard is now in place for button batteries. To ensure your listings remain compliant please review the guidance here. You should also make sure that when listing an item that contains or is powered by button batteries that this is clearly stated in the listing description.
