Changes to our Cosmetics policy
From 5 December 2024, new requirements for the sale of cosmetic products and perfumes on eBay will go live.
Cosmetics and perfumes may be sold only if the products and their listings follow applicable laws and policies.
What's changing
Our Cosmetics policy will be fully updated and renamed to Cosmetics and perfume policy.
The updated policy provides more extensive guidance regarding which items aren't allowed, including:
- Skin bleaching products
- Counterfeit cosmetics and perfumes
- Items that aren't in the original packaging
- Testers and samples
- Products marked as only for sale in a particular country or region (other than Australia)
The policy also provides guidance on how to sell permitted items, including empty containers and smell-alike products, to avoid infringing third-party rights and ensure that buyer expectations are met.
Next steps
If you sell cosmetics or perfumes/fragrances, please take some time to familiarise yourself with our updated Cosmetics and perfume policy and review your existing listings as soon as possible. Listings that do not comply with the updated policy could be subject to removal.
