One in five eBay purchases starts with a listing that appeared at the top of our search results page. Thanks to the launch of Promoted Listings Advanced (Beta) last year, sellers can now bid on keywords for the top spot in search results, so more customers can see your listings!

Now, we’re taking Promoted Listings Advanced further with two new keyword match types — making sure your listings are seen by the right buyers:

1. Reach a wider audience with broad match. This keyword match type allows your listings to appear for search terms that include your exact keyword terms, even if there are other words before, between, and/or after your keyword. By matching your keywords with buyer searches that have the same meaning, you can reach a wider audience.

For example, if one of your keywords is “women’s hat”, your ad will also appear for:

  • Women’s summer hat
  • Golf hat for women

2. Exclude keywords to reach the right audience with negative phrase match. This keyword type ensures your listings don’t appear in searches that are not relevant to the buyer.

Using the same example as above with a negative phrase keyword of “red”, your “women’s hat” ad will not appear for:

  • Red women’s summer hat
  • Golf hat for women red
