In the lead up to the summer events season, we wanted to remind you of eBay’s event tickets policy.

Reselling tickets to events like concerts, plays or sport is generally allowed on eBay, provided you comply with relevant local laws. Live Performance Australia, the peak body for live performance, has produced a useful fact sheet on laws on ticket resale across Australia that may assist you when looking to resell a ticket.

As the major event capitals in Australia, we would also like to remind you of the specific rules for listing tickets to events in NSW and Victoria on eBay.

Tickets to sporting or entertainment events in NSW subject to a resale restriction (a term or condition of a ticket that limits reselling) may be sold on eBay, provided that the advertised price of the ticket is no more than 10% above the original ticket price. The item description must include the original supply cost of the ticket and specific seating or location details for the ticket. Further information on these rules can be found here.

Tickets to declared events in Victoria may not be sold on eBay.

eBay takes its responsibilities in relation to ticket resale seriously and where we identify listings that are in breach of policy we will take action.
