We're making important changes to our eBay User Agreement and associated terms on eBay.com.au. The updated User Agreement will take effect on 28 April 2026.
What's changed
It is important that you read the updated User Agreement, including the specific terms and policies mentioned below, in their entirety. What follows is only a summary of the changes.
We're making some important changes to eBay products and services. If you sell on eBay, we've sent you a separate email with more details on how these changes will affect your account, and your options when the updated terms take effect.
For sellers, we're introducing Free Selling for eligible sellers in Australia with AU $25,000 or less in total sales over the preceding 12-month period. We're updating our Store subscriptions, which will become eBay Pro subscriptions, and we're introducing a new Pro Starter plan. The Pro Starter plan is part of our suite of Pro subscriptions but will also operate as the default selling experience for sellers whose registered address is in Australia and whose annual total sales exceeds AU $25,000. The Pro Starter plan has no monthly cost and the same transaction fees as selling without an eBay Store.
As part of the changes to our selling experiences, existing eBay Store subscriptions (Basic, Featured or Anchor Store) will be automatically moved to the respective eBay Pro plan (Pro Basic, Pro Featured or Pro Anchor).
For buyers, we're introducing Buyer Protection on all purchases on eBay.com.au, excluding Vehicles and Classified Ads. A Buyer Protection fee will apply to listings from Australia-based sellers who don't have a Pro plan (excluding Vehicles and Classified Ads).
To reflect these changes, we've updated the Fees and services section of our User Agreement, as well the fee schedules:
- Selling fees without a Pro plan (applicable to sellers in the Free Selling experience, as well as sellers residing outside of Australia)
- As part of these changes, the international sales fee for sellers residing in Australia will now be calculated as 3% (incl. GST) of the total amount of the sale
- eBay Pro selling fees (applicable to sellers with an active Pro subscription, or those in the Pro Starter plan experience)
- Fees for selling a vehicle on eBay Motors
- Buyer Protection fee (applicable when purchasing items from Australia-based sellers who don't have a Pro plan)
Our Payment methods policy has been updated to reflect that Cash on pickup will no longer be available as a payment method in most categories, and we're also updating some of our Seller protections.
Further, we have also made some minor changes to ensure our User Agreement accurately reflects eBay services and/or to provide users with additional clarity. Please also note our new address for notices.
Next steps
Please take some time to read our updated User Agreement as well as the amended terms and policies linked above.
- If you're comfortable with the updated terms, you don't need to do anything else. However, if you're using an older version of the eBay app, check for updates in the app store and download the latest version.
- If you prefer not to accept the updated terms, please take steps to close your account. There is information about what happens to your listings following an account closure under the General section of the User Agreement.
If you have any questions about these changes or need to get in touch, please go to Help.
As always, thank you for being part of eBay.
