Why am I suddenly getting all these annoying pop up ads??

I haven't used my desktop to access ebay for a while (been using ipad recently). I've jumped on tonight (cause kids on the ipad) and I'm getting all these REALLY ANNOYING POP UP ADS!!!!! How do you switch them off???? Cheers
