Please understand - there is a difference in a post being directed at you - which is usually quoted - and - a post simply following the last post.
My post simply followed your post - it did not quote it.

Even if you (not really you, anybody) have been really helpful most of the time, if you want to work somewhere in customer service and tell them you have experience and have been among the top rated contributors here, they will probably just smile and won't care a bit.
Padi*0409 is also right. I have seen "top rated sellers" with 95% positive feedback or less, just because they sell a lot.

I am trying to make sense of this.
Feedback has absolutely nothing to do with the Community Boards.
Padi was simply pointing out - the OP has work to do on his selling.

I know, I was just agreeing with Padi that all these top things don't have much significance.
(From his post: Forget about getting kudoes on the boards, which are going to help you as much as the so called "Top Rated Seller" label which is, at best, a misnomer.)

You can be 'in it' by giving helpful advice....but.....you would first need to improve your feedback , to gain any credibility

Why - when a number here who are and have been only buyers - yet give selling advice.
They have absolutely no selling feedback.
No selling credibility at all.
Just a question. ??
LOL

Dom, with all due respect, I've heard that argument before. I am a buyer only BUT I do have a fair idea on how eBay's policies work for both buyers and sellers.
So, if I can give a seller a pointer in the right direction to help them out, I will do so. 😉

Believe me - I totally agree.
But there are some circumstances that occur - which can only be answered by someone who has actually sold.
Actually having to deal with issues - which affect a selling account.
I've seen answers from some - have they done the - acrobatics - of the minefield - of listing - description - postage etc - where eBay itself does not even cover all options - and never has.
And - to - add - it seems a little weird - when reading the advice - then right at the final word - ' but I'm not a seller '. ?? lol
Advice is good - but experience with some issues is better.
Some things are easily covered by policy - some are not - some are a little out there - eBay is not infallible - there are sometimes questions - I would not even deign to answer even having sold here for nigh on 18 -19 years.
That's all I'm getting at.

I don't have my own store. My family has and I help them.
But issues have been discussed here again and again, like managed payments (which was the issue with countessalmirena's post last week or so), so buyers who come here regularly have obviously learnt something about them (and other issues), even if you wouldn't call it "experience"?
In other words... they have read what a seller would like to say before and have learnt something (directly from sellers), are online before a seller and reply. I don't see a issue with that.
People also give advice about Smartycash Plus without having subscribed to Smartycash Plus for example?

Did you get the ' some issues '.??
