A seller is selling computer drives that are fake. I returned 2 drives and the postal service says they were received. eBay closed the case and the seller has not refunded the purchase price. How do i get eBay to do its job? This is ludicrous! If buyers don't actually have protections against frauds, then, whats the point of eBay?

Interesting that half an hour after I start this conversation I get a response from ebay saying I have been sent a full refund. Coincidence? Maybe. What really bugs me is that this seller continues to operate on ebay. What checks/penalties are being imposed on unscrupulous sellers? Or, is it the case that things "happen" only if buyers pursue sellers?

Why did eBay close the case? Did you ask them to step in?
After you open a case, a seller has a few days to respond and find a solution. After that, if you are not satisfied, you have to ask eBay to step in. They won't step in automatically, and if you don't ask them to step in, the case will be closed after 3-4 weeks (I don't remember exactly).

Also, never believe sellers who tell you they will send a replacement. In most cases, they are just playing games with you, particularly if they have atrocious feedback. 88.1% positive feedback is even worse than atrocious.

By opening the appropriate dispute and following the proper policy
Buyers are given all the protection under the sun
IF they go about things the right way
There is no point if you don't

Good lord
Stop keeping sellers like this in business and then act surprised you were 'ripped off'
Their feedback is so bad it is'nt funny

Did you actually upload the tracking number into the case?
Or are you just confirming receipt by manually going to the Aus Post website?
Also, if you opened a case for "Not as Described", the seller would have had to send you the money for return postage if they wanted the items back. Did they do this, or did you not follow procedure at all?
It is highly unlikely that an overseas seller will send you money, so their only other choice would have been to refund you and you wouldn't have had to go to all the hassle.

I uploaded the tracking number and tracked the item until it was delivered. eBay closed the case and thats it... Ridiculous

I initiated a return, got a postage label from ebay and returned the item. I also uploaded the tracking number for the returrn to ebay

I followed eBay procedure, got a return label; posted the item and uploaded the tracking number to eBay. Result? NOTHING. ebay closed the case and can't find anyway to challenge that decision. It's like ebay has No interest in making the process of returning an item easy.

Yes, I asked ebay to step in and followed their instructions, precisely.
