Hi community,
I'm having a real debacle going on at the moment and looking for some insight or advice moving forward. Originally, I had a fraudulent buyer try scam me by doing an unrecognized chargeback dispute for nearly $2000 for an item I sold, eBay took the money from my account I appealed the charge, and it took a while but commonsense prevailed and eBay awarded in my favor sent me an email confirming I'm protected while refunding me and closing the case. (very thankful they could see it was a fraudulent buyer)
Now eBay has started charging my account again for that same amount and send me emails saying it's for fee's and charges. I have had countless emails, phone calls, and the customer service online chat center. This has been going on for weeks!! On the odd occasion I can get someone to actually see the error they tell me it's a higher department, and someone will call within 24-48 hours. Nobody ever calls back!?! It's getting beyond frustration as my bank is charging me for reversing the forced chargebacks from eBay every couple of days.
When I go to the payments center it shows they are charging me again for the original fraud attempt charge back but I have the email showing that I won, and they refunded me. Customer service agents can see the error and assure me a call back to be resolved, but it never happens. Been in limbo for weeks.
What's the next step? pulling my hair out!
Thanks in advance.

The result of chargebacks and any appeals, is determined by financial institutions, not ebay. Ebay can forward information on your behalf, but they have no say on the final result.

In a 3-week period I have had 3 emails, heaps of online chats and 8 phone calls and every time I ask to speak to a supervisor/manager, and they say none are available and assure me the issue has been escalated to the highest priority, and I will get a call back in 24-48 hours. No one ever calls back! Thank you for your reply.

The last bit is the standard copy and paste reply eBay give to everyone who contacts them about anything
It's typed/said from a pre-written script and does not mean anything
Emails are bot automated and not 'read' by a human
I can only echo Financial Ombudsman, I'm afraid

Yes, that's what I was told originally. Long story short I had to wait 8 weeks for an outcome then appeal the decision as the bank sided with the buyer because they didn't have my side of the story yet, once I showed them all my evidence, they could see it was a dodgy buyer trying to defraud the bank and myself. Case got awarded in my favor then I got refunded and case closed.

โฆ.are they trying to charge you for the chargeback fee, or the full transaction amount?
