ebay changing listings

Hi! Does anyone have an issue with ebay changing their listings. When an item 'rolls over' they make it 'make an offer' when I clearly did not aask for it & also totally changing the 'buy it now' on one of my items to 'make an offer'???

I did get in touch with customer service about it a while back but they said it was a software issue and could not be change...wot the?

I don't understand how they can change your listing without your permission or have I missed some fine print somewhere?

HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS ONE AND ALL!!!

Re: ebay changing listings

I have never heard of it being a software issue

I have heard of/read many cases on here where ebay intentionally insert 'make an offer' at will on people's listings

Originally the story went it was ebay's way of 'helping' people when their items were'nt selling but it seems very much they just do it on whatever and to whomever they feel like

All without the seller's knowledge or permission

Yes, so helpful

Re: ebay changing listings

I contacted ebay to tell them of my displeasure at the "offer" option being put on my listings without my knowledge. Apparently it is a newish feature where the "offer" option is  automatically added if an item remains unsold after 8 days. There is no way of opting out of it as it is across the board. I was told to just go and edit my listing to remove the offer setting.

Re: ebay changing listings

That is interesting

I have items on ten day auctions usually and re-list most of them at some point. So a lot longer than 8 days and it has not been added to mine (yet)

Was it someone in the overseas call center tell you (did you phone eBay) or on Live Chat?

Just curious as I find it hard to believe you have been given 'real' reason

Re: ebay changing listings

I have my listings on 30 day BINs with 8 x autorelists. They haven't imposed them on me. Yet.

I wouldn't take what anybody at eBay tells you as truth. They will tell you what they think will get you off the phone the quickest. If it happens to be true, is is a coincidence, not deliberate.

Re: ebay changing listings

eBay member: The Make an Offer button appears on my listings, even though I listed it very specifically at a fixed price without any Make Offer enabled. It's happened over and over again. How can I stop this from happening?

eBay CS: You put your left arm in, your left arm out, in, out, in, out, you shake it all about, You do the hokey cokey and you turn around, that's what it's all about. Woah, the hokey cokey, woah, the hokey cokey, woah, the hokey cokey, knees bent, arms stretched, ra-ra-ra.

eBay member: It's not working! I've hokey cokeyed twenty times and the best offer thing is still popping up after I remove it!

eBay CS: I've referred this to our tech support for action.

eBay member: That's what you said last year, at 8:45 a.m. on a cold winter's morning.

eBay CS: I've escalated this with our tech support team.

eBay member: You said that too, two days later on a foggy winter's morning.

eBay CS: We've just been informed that staying on the phone for too long turns your brain to vanilla pudding. The danger is real. Urgent action required from you immediately. For your own safety, hang up!

eBay member: What ---? Oh no, I'd better hang up right away.

Meanwhile, in eBay CS headquarters, the evil Overlord of Customer Service smiles approvingly. "You did well, my child... got them off the phone within 5 minutes. Keep that up and you're sure to be promoted in the fullness of time..."
