Have you removed the old credit crd details from your paypal account?

Ring paypal and tell them what has happened.  Ask if they can leave the refund in your paypa account OR altrnately will they forward it to the new credit card that you have registered with paypal.

If it's a refund through Paypal, just remove the old card and replace it with the new card.

Also if the seller happens to be an Asian registered seller (look at their feedback) then be aware that promising refunds is a very common delaying tactic by them so that you run out of time for an eBay dispute and/or the ability to leave feedback.

Every time I have had a refund it has gone to my Paypal account, even when it was originally funded by a credit card via Paypal, so there shouldn't be a problem, just update your card details on Paypal. However, I would check the Paypal account regularly to see that they do actually refund you.
