I bought a gold coin for $500 but the seller has not sent it. I have sent 6 messages to her but have not had a response. Lodged a complaint withy ebay and they said they would look into it, and now I get a message that they will get back to me in 48 hours for the last 4 days.

Are you sure it was from an eBay member as it sounds like it could've been a scam (possibly from a fake eBay
pop up site).
When eBay say they will look into it and then not reply it may be because they haven't found the transaction so
have nothing to look into,
Looks like it's a good time to sell my $200 gold coin (pity I could only list it as pick up only as I wouldn't post,so it's not likely to happen),
I sure wouldn't invite any stranger around to my house to pick up a $200 gold coin.

Ah, the joys of paranoia.
I am not, and have a large, intelligent dog, so it wouldn't be an issue for me. If I had a $200 coin to sell.

Good luck! I bought a preordered item on ebay just over $150 in August last year, product was supposed to come out in November. So when it didn't and I had a hard time getting any messsage from the sellers. The open a dispute time was well over. ebay protect the sellers, not the buyers...Which is kind of weird. I've noticed that the same company started to get a few negative reviews. The comments are now gone.

You should have checked out eBay's terms re pre-orders. You should also have checked into Paypal's claims window.

Preordered items can only be listed 20? days before release.
You should not have bought so far in advance of the release date.
