This is the second time my order has been cancelled they are saying that I cancelled the item. I have not cancelled any items
Some sellers do not realize that voluntary cancellation of transactions due to out-of-stock and other reasons is an important part of defect transactions. In fact, voluntary cancellation of transactions by sellers may have serious consequences. So, to avoid proactively canceling the deal, they lied that you asked to cancel.
eBay will downgrade the seller's rating of the account, resulting in an increase in transaction fees, and at the same time affecting the search exposure and flow of the account. In addition, eBay will punish such false behavior.
Rest assured, this has no effect on you.
I have had two items cancelled by seller and then said I did it....ebays response is to block you from leaving negative feedback...as a buyer I no longer believe the feedback ratings as over time, ebay has stopped honest feedback in preference to the seller...time to buy things elsewhere....think the chinese have corrupted the system.
I had an order cancelled only recently because they didn't have the colour I had selected, although they said they had many other colours if I wanted to choose another one. Apparently that colour was sold out but eBay had not updated the listing. I really wanted that colour, so they gave me a refund, but luckily they were honest and indicated the reason for the cancellation as "out of stock or damaged". I mean, it can be done, and it should be done. Those who say it was the buyer who cancelled want to avoid a defect, that's pretty obvious.
Padi, I wonder why xstumac2 mentions being blocked from leaving negative fb. If he had left negative fb and it was removed, he would not have been able to leave fb again (fake positive fb), so maybe it was just too early? You know how you have to wait a week or so to leave neg fb for some "power sellers"?
Sellers sometimes are O.O.S and will use buyer requested cancellation so as to not get a defect on their account. Don't worry, you don't get any defects as a buyer.
Whilst it's poor form for sellers to not update their listings, not much can be done about it.
Find another seller, preferably an Aus registered seller. (Check feedback page for where a seller is registered)
Don't know if Xtum had any contact with seller prior to item being cancelled, in the case of chinese sellers, there can be significant language barriers that result in misunderstandings. Another trick used by savvy sellers to avoid a OOS defect, is to message the buyer advising that item is out of stock, we expect next shipment in three months so you can either wait or would you prefer to cancel. As soon as the buyer says cancel, it is at the buyers request and is there in black and white for ebay to verify. (Note this can be worded in hundreds of different ways.)
