I recently bought a heated vest for my elderly mother, for Mothers Day.
When she tried to use it, it wasn't working. I visited her the following week thinking she didn't know how to use the item, but I could not get it to heat up. I contacted the seller, let them know it was faulty, but havent heard back, after numerous messages. Ebay sent me a standard email saying they will step in if the matter is not resolved. That was weeks ago. What are my options?
This post concerns me a little to say the least.
You say a heated vest, is it heated electrically? Not a great idea for an older person.
What do you know about the seller and the safety of their products?
Maybe lucky it did not work...........
If the delivery date was less than 30 days ago, you are covered under the MBG if you open a dispute for refund/return now. If delivery date was more than 30 days ago, you’ll be covered if you have already opened the dispute within the 40-day timeframe.
Assuming that you have opened that dispute, and the seller has not resolved the issue, you must escalate by “ask[ing] eBay step in” once that option appears within the dispute. You must do so within 21 days of opening the dispute. If you don’t, the dispute automatically times out and there will be no refund and no way to reopen the dispute.
If you’re out of time for eBay’s Money Back Guarantee, but you paid through PayPal, you can still be covered by PayPal’s Buyer Protection. Timeframe - 180 days from date of the transaction itself.
If you didn’t use PayPal, you may still be covered by your bank/card issuer if you paid by credit or debit card. Timeframe varies from one bank to another, and one card to another. Check your card’s T&Cs; you may give the timeframe is one month, 2 or 3 months, or (best case scenario) six months. You should only try the chargeback option if all other options fail. A failed eBay or PayPal dispute will still leave the chargeback option available, but a failed chargeback will end all dispute options.
As said, you open and follow through with a dispute
The seller does not need to reply for you to do this
*Edit
Sorry, if it was for Mother's Day (May) you are out of time for eBay
Unless it is still within 30 days of the last estimated delivery date
How did you pay?
You need to open a dispute with eBay's MBG (see below). hopefully you haven't passed the 30 day threshold.

Edit. Is that an American Akita on your profile photo ?
