I have just bid on an item and confirmed it, then the box reloaded and while I was reading it the auction finished

I have just bid on an item and confirmed it, then the box reloaded and while I was reading it the auction finished (didn't get to work out what was required). Page reloaded and winning bid was $4.50 less than my bid can some one explain this to me. All but one of my past purchases have been buy it now and I am confused by this out come.

Please post the item number and someone will look at it and try to explain to you. Or you can click on the number of bids on the finished listing and look at the bid history page and see if you can work it out for yourself.

Basically though just because you have confirmed your bid does not mean it's been entered in time to be placed on the item. Maybe you just bid too close to ending time.
