Why do so many sellers refuse to post to P.O. boxes

Probably because of couriers as others have said.

Also, as the "don't post to PO boxes" box is at the end of the list of countries a seller doesn't post to, if you only post to Australia & just keep ticking boxes to exclude all the countries, if you're not paying attention you could accidentally tick that box too.

We actually love PO boxes, & really dislike units (especially older blocks with small letterboxes in a brick wall) as most of our items are posted as large letters stiffened with cardboard to prevent bending & are often left on top of the wall, where they can be missed by the recipient, taken by anyone walking past, or even accidentally thrown out when underneath all the junk mail also left there.

We would love to be able to insist on signature on delivery, but buyers won't pay that much for postage for an item under $10 - don't blame them as we wouldn't either. 

We've often thought that we'd love Australia Post to have a cheaper tracked option, say $2 for tracking but no signature rather than $4 registered post being the only option.  Oh well, had our whinge now even if a bit off topic.
