Just rang ebay to clarify what was the go with the voucher and there is now a recorded announcement that says something like:
.. we are aware that buyers are experiencing a problem with the voucher codes, we are currently working on this issue and apologise for any inconvenience....
fingers crossed its a simple glitch that is rectified soon ...
Solved! Go to Solution.

I think the ACCC is the one to complain to re false or misleading advertising

I wonder if ebay will honor the vouchers once they rectify the problem because I was silly enough to try and use the voucher on a few items due to the fact that it was invalid,I was only after 1 item but because I thought it was invalid on that particular item I then tried another and another until I finally realized that it was fake so by that time I actually ended up buying 5 items and now have to pay for them as the sellers don't care about my excuses

Thanks cats. I haven't tried to use the voucher code yet but what a schmozzle!
It seems the advert about the discount is visible on login for lots of users but the voucher is only valid to those IDs who received an email with the offer.

Well I can only hope they will let anyone use it, because I never got an E-mail but attempted to use the code....shall have to wait and see.

schmozzle is the right word for it for sure.
it is all just so wrong to promote it to those who would not be eligible for it and show the potential discounts on the listings they are viewing.
The glitch in redeeming it, is the icing on the cake.

Buyers can either lodge a complaint with ACCC or their state fair trading departments

This is not the first time, ebay had such issues with their false advertisment and promotion code. Such a large company charging us enormous amount of ebay fee, but they still couldn't fix their system or honour their deal when they make mistake. Very very disappointing. Wondering if there should be class action from ACCC or sth for their irresponsibility and dishonesty.
