It seems to have become normal practice for sellers to end auctions early if the bids are low either that or the are many clumsy sellers which either break, loose etc the item as that the reaso they use
but by some miracle they manage to find the item and relist soon after lol
which there was some way to eliminate these scamers from my searches that would save me wasting my time bidding

I doubt it's the norm. As a larger seller I really don't have the time to babysit my listings and decide when to end them based on lack of bids. Sometimes I list .99c auctions knowing they may not reach the full value, but accept this is the way it works - it is advertising (loss leader) and I accept it as such.
This thread is sounding a bit hysterical - at the end of the day, big deal. There are items being listed on ebay all the time, if you missed out on one chances are you'll be able to get another if you wait long enough. The seller hasn't ripped you or anyone else off, there has been no money changing hands, just a little dash of disappointment. At the end of the day that never harmed anyone.

Sorry dotcom but once the seller decides to sell on ebay they need to follow ebays rules and they should follow through. My money is my money till I hand it over but if I bid for something regardless of finding it cheaper, deciding it's not what I want I still need to pay. Both parties need to do the right thing to make ebay work

Belinda, I understand the frustration. I do.
But, it isn't against the rules to end a listing early.
on 22-06-2013 07:30 PM
@dotcomdotayu You say there is no rule that says you cant end an auction that's just not true. There are guidelines and rules in place for this they are very similar to when a buyer cancels a bid , there is only selective reasons you can do this , choose from 3 I believe but hey I wouldn't think you would be the type to flaunt the rules now would I MUCH.
Now go do your homework on it because your wrong there are rules surrounding such actions.

Is that so, 1sweetap6v8?
If you cannot complete your listing as planned, you can end your listing before the scheduled date. If there are bids on your item, you can cancel them.
Reasons for ending listings early include:
The item is no longer available for sale.
There was an error in the starting price or reserve amount.
There was an error in the listing.
The item was lost or broken.
Note: Your account will still be charged listing fees (such as the Insertion Fee) if you end your listing early. Consider revising your listing first if there are aspects of it you want to change or improve.
So, show me THE RULE where a seller CAN NOT end their listing early? That is the GUIDELINE for sellers, right there, in black and white.
If a seller doesn't think their auction is doing well, they can end it early. Maybe they realised THERE WAS AN ERROR IN THE STARTING PRICE or maybe they'll DECIDE IT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR SALE.
Get over it. Seriously.

LOL you didn't understand a work I wrote I don't no what planet your on but maybe read it again a little slower.
I too was finding it difficult to understand however dotcom has already pointed out the reason so I won't repeat it.
While it is understandable that those who don't have English as their first language make basic spelling and grammatical errors it still makes understanding difficult.
