I purchased a few items on july 12 and received extra debits in my paypal account from ebay australia and new zealand pty limited. it says that the fee/debit are related to my purchase, they are for like 90c, $1.20,30cents etc, but on top of the original purchase price. Are there new fees for purchases that i dont know about or should i be worried that someone is taking money from me?? I purchase from ebay alot (not lately) but have never had these extra transactional debits before. does anyone know what it could be ?

several years ago I stopped reading papers and watching main-stream-media TV news when they started reporting the exact same stories - VERBATIM - over and over again ad nauseam.
Also, I don't shop on line very often. so to find eBay had deducted ADDITIONAL FEES from my purchase - outside the checkout, I felt VIOLATED!
Never, ever shopping on eBay, ever again.

Presumably you're talking about the GST that eBay is required to collect from overseas purchases by the ATO.
Funny that you didn't hear about the likelihood that the GST would be implemented by the Australian Government, they were talking about it more than 2 years ago......................
If it is imports that your upset about then the simple solution would be to buy only from Australian sellers on eBay, or buy direct from them where you may not be subject to the GST.

I don't like paying GST on items from overseas sellers where the cost is under $1000.
You don't like paying GST on items from overseas sellers where the cost is under $1000.
Edith Everyone and Joe Blow don't like paying GST on items from overseas sellers where the cost is under $1000.
Granted.
But to speak about feeling violated in this context is so very wrong... You should reserve that language for genuine violation. Being burgled makes one genuinely feel violated, especially when the thieves have stolen not just valuables, but intimate clothing. Being kidnapped would make one feel violated. Being held hostage or imprisoned falsely by a foreign government would make one feel violated. Being abused and raped would make one feel violated.
Paying 10% GST on overseas purchases - no.

I'm not sure if voliated is he correct term though. Being forced to eat GM food (having people tamper with our food), having fluoride dumped in our water without our consent is a true violation! But in saying that, I feel your pain, anguish and frustration.
The sheer arrogance of those people "who can" who screw with the enjoyment of your life (mine too) by hitting us with fees, extra fees to line the pockets of another is disgusting. So this disrespect that is thrown in our faces could be a violation of sorts, so maybe you are right in that sense.
fillmackaken2 , I certainly applaud you for coming here and telkling us your side of things. I 100% agree with you on that part.
Because of GSP, GST, Import duties etc, I have now halved my ebay time.

I was also charged GST through my bank account. I had already paid a gst amount at the checkout to the seller. How does this work?

For overseas purchases through eBay, the GST portion is collected by eBay (or Pitney Bowes if you used the GSP) and sent to the ATO. The seller doesn't get any of the GST.
In your payment details in Paypal it will show the 2 separate amounts, one to the seller and the other to the ATO.
