I purchased some jeans (2 pairs) which arrived absolutely covered in fluff and cat hair. Even though the price was a bargain, when I emailed the seller about the condition of the jeans the reply was "Probably the mohair throw that was under them for photo Glad u like them" my further reply was that I was not happy about having to spend at least half an hour each pair trying to remove the fluff, with no reply by seller. No apology.
So I left a neg and a neutral, nothing personal, just factual (majority of my feedback given is positive) and copped an earful of abuse and bad language via ebay message. Now I wish it was 2 negs I left them.

We recently purchased something from them and they e-mailed us saying they would not send our items until we changed a rating from neutral to positive also the size was completely wrong. So yeah refusal of goods plus holding on to the money we spent with no way of just getting a refund for the stuffing around caused by them.
Why did you leave feedback before the seller had even posted the goods? I must admit I don't blame the seller for not wanting to deal with you but they should have refunded your payment.
Did you pay with paypal? If you did you could have opened a dispute to get your money back or get the goods.

You have come here mentioning cat hair (did the seller mention owning a cat?) and that it took you atleast HALF HOUR EACH trying to remove the fluff. To take that long you must have done it by hand, piece by piece, strand by strand. Black especially can be a real pain picking up/showing up stuff. Yes there are lint rollers/sticky paper and clothes brushes but I have found two things to be useful and cheap:
1) packing tape wrapped around your hand (obviously sticky side outwards) ran (stick and lift, stick and lift) over the item
2) soft glitter gel curry comb normally used for grooming horses!
Might cut your time in half!

I wouldn't be impressed by fur on clothing, however they were jeans. Why didn't she just throw them in the wash? It's not that hard to get fur or fluff off jeans just by a simple wash cycle.
Did no-one else notice that the O.P recently left a neutral claiming that a NWOT item was "ripped to shreds"? I find it hard to believe that a seller would post an item in that condition,so it kinda loses credibility for me.Also i would be leaving a neg not a neutral if it really was ripped to shreds.
Leaves a neg for fur & a neutral for ripped to shreds? Doesn't make sense to me.

I noticed that, i was waiting for someone to mention it.
Go figure!

I was a bit surprised by fixnwear's attitude actually, it is very generous towards sellers but think the majority of buyers would not agree.
I find I lean more towards Black Poppy's view.
I think when something is second hand, any defects or problems with it need to be mentioned up front.
If you can't see it in a photo, then you shouldn't see it in the item, and that includes lots of animal hair, holes, pilling, broken hems etc
People bid based on the description and nothing makes me madder than to bid and win something that doesn't match the description. In the past i have still been inclined to give a positive, but I think I would be less inclined to do it now if I felt at all cheated. Fact is, the price you bid can be influenced by what condition you think the item is in. If you know about wear or defects, you might not even bid.
Second hand or not, cheap or not, it doesn't excuse people sending things that are dirty or need work on them if that was not specifically stated in the ad.
All most customers want is honesty.

springyzone,
my attitude comes from dealing with people in normal life as well as sellers on all sorts of other selling sites.
To me Ebay is just another site to buy stuff - the only difference being that here sellers are most severely punished for every single little "fault" - but the punishemt is always the same - they get negs weather they are shonks or, like in this case, there are some hairs on the jeans that were not disclosed in the listing.
Can you imagine in real life if you got hanged for murder as well as pinching a bag of lollies. Or any other misdemeanour in between.
And of course the price has everything to do with the condition - OP already said the jeans were cheap (how cheap we don't know).
I still think that OP should apologise and offer to ammend her damaging f/back (her f/back eveluations don't make much sense anyway with the rest of the items she bought) - and hopefully seller also will then apologise for her angry response, and if she doesn't - that's her loss, not OP's.
Finally, it's something very unhealthy with this free rein that Ebay has handed to sellers with the ability to do exactly what the OP has done - this sort of thing just doesn't exist anywhere else in the big wide world.
And you find that human behaviour is totally different under those circumstances.

I hope you meant buyers.......

I understand exactly what you mean, in that I have seen some buyers give a neg or neutral for things that have had absolutely nothing to do with the seller, and I have even seen people put a very positive comment with a neutral dot.
But it is ebay that is giving such a weight to eg only getting 3 stars on a transaction. I doubt most buyers even understand it could have much impact.
Buyers do have some clout, I understand that, and it must annoy some sellers that they can't leave negative feedback either, but it was a disaster back when it was allowed.
The difference on ebay to other places of sale though is that in shops, on gumtree, on facebook sale sites etc, the buyer usually gets to see the object before handing over money.
On ebay they usually don't. They are relying on photos and an honest description and they bid based on those things.
So don't be surprised if a buyer feels upset if any item has problems that weren't outlined in an ad. It doesn't matter how cheap it is, no one likes to feel they have been misled.
I agree, a bit of fur on a pair of jeans may not warrant a neg, but if we are talking covered in fluff then I am surprised any buyer wouldn't wake up to the fact it could potentially earn a neutral.
I used to sell (under another name) and I well recall the time we advertised a doiley. It sold cheaply (forget exact price but in the region of $1.50) and as my sister went to bag it, we noticed a small hole in it.
So the item had a defect we had not mentioned and we were aware a buyer might not have bid if they had known.
We didn't say-oh well, it was dirt cheap so the buyer shouldn't expect much. We posted it to the woman and refunded her money in full, with an apology and explanation. Mind you, we got glowing feedback for honesty and I would have been disappointed if we had copped a neg for it.
I originally started to visit this board to get up to speed with things as I was considering coming back as a seller, but the fees and the whole difficult process has put me off.
Mind you, if I did sell again, I would be very careful with detailed descriptions and I would no more send out jeans covered in fur than fly in the air, even if they had only sold for $1. Some things are just not worth the risk.

JMO but it states seller refunded so am guessing that is why OP left a neutral and not a neg.
