Australia Post AGAIN

This is one for sellers as well, but I have put this here as it happened to me as a buyer.

I have just had two parcels delivered to my house. The delivery driver also left a card for a third parcel to collect from the Post Office.

As this has happened a few times over the last few weeks, I contacted Australia Post.

I was told that I would have to go to the post office to collect the parcel. (You don't say, thank you for pointing that out)

I said to the AP representative that I would not be able to get to the post office to collect the item, and reminded him that it was their contractual obligation to deliver it to me.

He responded that no contract existed as no one had signed anything. (Which mistake are we up to now?), I did give him the short and sweet explanation of the contract.

He then went on to tell me - and now this is the really good bit.... that he would have the parcel "Returned To Sender" so that the eBay seller could send the parcel to me again (at their expense BTW) and it could be delivered to my door "next time".

I said to him that "you do realize that you have just asked me to screw an eBay Seller because you have failed to meet your contractual obligations?"

His response was "that is the only way to get the item delivered to your door."

It gets better.

He then went on to tell me again, that there was NO contract with Aus Post for the delivery of the parcel as no one had signed any contract.

I wonder how many eBay sellers this has happened to.

Re: Australia Post AGAIN

I'm more curious as to why the third parcel was carded and not delivered with the other two - do you know if there's anything special about it, eg different service used?

BTW... No contract? So, I'm not bound by their T&C's when I use their services, then?

Re: Australia Post AGAIN

no. they're investigating.

it has a PBU barcode, does that give any hints?

it is a "small parcel" (though it would weigh more than 500g) but the general postie delivered two other packages to me this morning - so *shrugs*

The ones in my letterbox start with a U

and the red 3kg satchel just has numbers, not sure about the box, it's all the way over there ===> and I am in pain and it hurts to move so I'm not gonna LOLOLOL

I was dumbfounded.

But I didn't think of that to say to him, wish I had have...

no need to safe drop, parcel man was met at the door.

dunno, that's not really a big deal, I was just horrified by how he offered to fix the situation - "Return to Sender"!

The stupidity ,laziness and ignorance I can make allowances for, but that's just rude.

No idea - but if it can be tracked online, that might give a hint as to the type of service used if something other than standard.

I don't get how RTS and resending would have made a difference, if something stopped AP from even attempting delivery. o_O

Re: Australia Post AGAIN

I never, ever get a parcel delivered to my door, unless it is signed for delivery. A man in a van brings those, but the rest of my parcels, even posted as large letters, I get left a card in my mailbox which is snail chewed by the next day.

Re: Australia Post AGAIN

The recipient wouldn't have a contract with AP, the sender would. If the 2 parcels were under 500g then they were probably delivered by the postie whereas the over 500g parcel would probably be by way of a subcontractor.
