Just venting..........Many examples I can think of. Here's just 1.....Recently bought 2 tee shirts. 1 from a Sydney seller the other from an American seller. Postage was dearer for Aust. Post satchel than USPS. How can it be possible knowing that the USPS item is handled by Aust. Post when it hits our shores????? Can't get my head around it!!!!! Suffice to say we are being shafted!!!

Seems like there's a lot of frustrations here -- I've had many of the same experiences myself (costs way more to send a book than I sold it for)!
That's why I've been working on an alternative to AusPost that does door-to-door delivery for flat rates up to 10kg. It's currently $9.75 within Australian cities and $16.70 between cities and we're working on getting these prices even lower. That includes insurance, tracking, signature on delivery (or authority to leave) and you don't have to go and wait in line at the post office.
For anything bigger than a few hundred grams or anything with insurance you're saving money AND getting it picked up from you door.
It's called Sendle and I'd love to see what other eBay users think of it. Here's a link for $5 off: https://www.sendle.com/?coupon=EBAY15159
Hope it helps ๐

Probably best to start a new thread, as this one is VERY old, most advice is well out of date.

7 day listings and expensive listing fees are a bit of a putoff.

You are on the Australian boards.....I guess things must be different in the UK as most sellers are able to use the free listings here in Australia.
Why are 7 day listings a problem?
If you want to complain maybe start a new thread as this one is so old that much of the information is outdated.

Dear Deborah,
the majority of my items are under $5 including postage, with the new proposed increase plus priority on 4th Jan 16, most of my items will go up to $6+, rendering my business obsolete against, items from china for $1-2, creating a larger divide against international sellers vs Australian Sellers.. what you will acheive is a significant loss in sales to australian ebay sellers, loss of letters sent, and eventually further reductions in letter sents by Australians, you need to remember that, you a now competing on a global scale, not domestically, that is not a sound business practice, biting the hand that feeds you.
if you are going to increase the price of stamps. Your whole envelop system need overhauling to global standards, i.e. items upto 50grams(regardless of thickness, but still in DL size) $1. items above 50grams and below 125grams, regardless of thickness, and stil fit in a b4, $2,etc, then over 500grams goes to parcels. this is a more sound and internationally competitive business model. and will keep australian ebay sellers in business against international sellers
Regards
Tyson

Did you not see how old this thread is?
As you don't have a specific question there is no point in starting a new thread but you obviously have no idea about satchels.
They are always the cheapest option and if you can pack a small item safely in a box and then in a satchel you are sure to make savings.
BTW the Australia Post satchels are fully recyclable.

Not necessarily cheaper to use satchels.
I have 15kg of books to go to Melb
$45 as 3 x 5kg satchels thru C&S
$34 as a regular parcel over the counter

Weight for weight SINGLE 3 and 5kg satchels are cheaper than calculated postage.
